Transom Gilding

It was customary to reverse-glass gild house numbers on the transom of your home in the early 1800’s. Many of these Victorian homes in San Francisco still have gilded transom addresses, or the owners have brought them back. The traditional process of glass gilding uses genuine gold leaf produces a mirrored gold.
